Call of Duty Black Ops: Cold War

Just think, the last we ever heard of the original two voice actors for mason and woods was in that horrendous black ops 4 with the cut campaign. I can understand why sam Worthington would decline but they did James C Burns who voiced woods dirty. He has been very active on Twitter lately says he has no clue why they didn't pick him. Its funny they found a guy to do a woods impersonation when they had the real woods voice actor ready and willing to do it

After watching the reveal dude I still really hope that some of the animations are placeholders and they’ll actually put more time into making them feel a bit more like how MW is.

And I can’t even like see anything that says “you are the best SOF NATO has to offer” because it looks like if NJSOC just stopping giving a fuck in giving the best literally anything to set them apart

Alpha gameplay is decent, but nothing special really. It's a lot more like old school cod, they removed a lot of the little features mw had like tactical sprint and interactable doors, maps they've shown are also too small. Hopefully the campaign makes it worthwhile

first impression? not great

feels too much like a telltale walking dead game with all the dialogue choices. too much focus around new characters like adler and bell instead of hudson/mason/woods like the bo storyline traditionally was. story feels too fast paced especially the prologue where you don't know what's going on

cold war setting was something they could've nailed but just feels like they're using it because the futuristic timelines were a failure and now they've backpedalled to the cold war setting

That's because it's literally what they've done

They've basically backpedalled like they said they would

I believe the story begins after the storyline from Black Ops, but before BO2? Unsure

takes place in 1981/early 80s with black ops being in the 60s and black ops 2 being in 2025 and the preceding events being in 1988-89

I watched some gameplay of the very beginning of the campaign and so far I find it believable if you just shut your brain off and enjoy it.

I especially liked the creation. Finally able to play your own character instead of having some dude pre determined for you. And your backstory actually influencing the game in cutscenes and how people talk to you

Still don’t like the gun animations and gunsmith though. All the sounds they absolutely nailed.

Im prolly just gonna get it for zombies. Because so far that alone is worth $60 people are saying

Yeah then the rumours are confirmed, they decided not to touch the OG Black Ops storyline and restart the saga from there

As for MW, they did a full reboot so hard they even went before CoD4 at times LOL

i was so excited for the campaign, i played through all of black ops 1 like right before playing this when it launched, the gameplay was good. Graphics were good. Writing was absolute shit.

the kgb, one of history's most feared intelligence and security agencies

bocw: lockpick a door in the main hallway of the lubyanka building

campaign finished and fuck me what a waste

gunplay was good, graphics were good, story and writing were shit. new voice actors for almost all of the original team, story was focused around new characters that were pretty shit and had little to no development behind them. the game would have been so much better if it was left down to woods, mason, hudson and maybe a few others instead of some knock off epic shades guy that looks like a 70s pornstar. feels detatched from the black ops storyline and just a cheap cash in on black ops nostalgia and cold war fans

To be more elaborate. The cold was encompasses so fucking much. There's literally no reason why you couldn't have taken any of the minor/major proxy war conflicts and thrust special operatives into the area for shits and giggles and make a badass story. Instead, you've got a pretty cookie-cutter Call of Duty game that just fell short to anything substantial. And you'd expect with the sheer spine-chilling and well made teaser trailers they would've done something interesting. But now we're left with a fairly mediocre game that did not live up to the hype of a unique cold war experience. I cannot speak for the Multiplayer or Zombies, but to put it simply. It was a waste of really good potential.

Well, I can wait for '83 by Antimatter for that Cold-War game I guess.

it was rushed, the story made no sense and like you said was just a cookie cut call of duty

the gunplay is good so subsequently the multiplayer will be good and from what ive heard the zombies is decent, but the hype from this game came from the continuation of the black ops storyline but we got a completely different story with little to no relevance to the actual storyline

the glory days of cod are over

Oh shit I forgot about that game. I actually really look forward to that.

But as for CW atm. I’m only looking at the first few missions. And the whole gameplay and cutscenes are really nice looking and that shit... but a fucking warhead in Vietnam? On a fucking army FOB on a hill point? You fucking serious? None of that shit fits nor works.

I applaud their usage of actual, historical footage from the time though, it’s nice to see that in any game now a days. I can tell they tried, but failed miserably

They went from this absolute N U T of a teaser trailer

to a pretty generic COD game. How does a developer do that?
