The war in the middle east is pointless, our boys and girls have no reason to be over there fighting for something so pointless that only leads to meaningless loss of life at extraordinary rates, just let them fight their own wars. I also feel bad for the German soldiers who were forced into service and sent to die on the east/western fronts, many German soldiers were just men trying to fight for their country, and keep their borders safe. The Waffen SS and the Schutzstaffel were the Nazi's in Germany supporting Hitler in his extermination of the Jews.

The SS purely consisted of soldiers in better physical condition to lay it out simply. SS officers schools, however, also had racial studies and the likes.

All in all, negating the madness near the end of the war in 1945, pretty much every German in the SS had chosen to be there at some point. The wehrmacht, however, is a whole other story.
