Pretty sure (although not certain) it was particularly IO INC. that was working on Hitman, then they got booted out of Square Enix, but kept the rights of Hitman, so they can focus completely on just Hitman, and don't have to worry about Square Enix breathing down their necks.

Also how does everyone feel about the whole episodic style? I think its nice but it does give reason to charging for each one which is...ehhh.
