Anime is just the name given to the artstyle and source, 'Japanese animation'.
So in reality it is open to all genres, you can have serious drama, to a satirical comedy and all in between.

I love action, documentaries about War, death, drugs, crime, violence and gang activity.
I also like the occasional romance type if it's well made, oh I also like depressed shit lol

Of course - I don't watch too much of the gang type gritty shows - but a good one to watch would be Cowboy Bebop.

Plenty of romance ones out there - some with depressing ends, but honestly a matter of preference really.

Also just saying my mind has gone blank right now - thus I cannot really suggest anything currently, but there are other people here who can suggest shit.

Crunchyroll's a good way of finding free anime, just get an adblock though, it'll save you a lot of time.

Most people loved it, I thought it was okay at best. It just did not hit all the right notes in terms of drama or romance. It is pretty fun for what it is worth. If you are looking for a great pure drama I suggest Showa Genroku Rakugo Shinjuu which has the best voice acting and the characters are amazingly well done.

For romance, I would suggest Nagi no Asukara or Nana. NagiAsu has some fantasy elements to it, but it really is worth it to push through the first cour, because the second cour is amazing.

Nana is more pure romance where it is all about the relationship between the two main protagonists.

Angel beats has a bit of everything, drama, romance, action, comedy, etc. but it does not really excel at any of them.

Wait wait, why am I doing this?

1: I don't watch the Walking Dead, I don't watch Game of Thrones, I don't watch Stranger Things, and I fast-forward all the commercials.

2: Anime in my view has been more or less neglected in my view, some people have used positions in Civil Protection to make custom scripts of Manga novels and Anime movies and the stuff for their collection and benefit of having, but has been more or less unseen on the Forums. As for I? Well, I just watch Anime and listen to Japanese Rock.

Now, I do hope there are people on Nebulous with similar thoughts as I. In short, if you have a list of shows you watched or want to name any favorites for Anime series or movies you might've seen (Manga could count too if that's allowed) As for what I prefer? My list of Anime is short but sweet, really.

-Fullmetal Alchemist (Pick either one of the series, I've watched both)
-Black Butler (First two seasons)

-Code Geass (Both Seasons, Second Favorite)

I personally really enjoy Hellsing Ultimate, and the Abridged Version. Outside of that, the only anime I've really watched is Kirby Right Back At Ya! and Yu-Gi-Oh

I really only have two anime shows that I enjoyed: Death Note and Attack On Titan.

Let me just point out how clever Death Note is and I just really like the plot but what I do want to talk about is AOT, I think that this show steers away from most anime directions, such as not having any sexual references, showing panties here and there, boobs, etc...
This show makes me really think and put myself in the character's shoes and truly feel the fear of actually running into a Titan, the soundtrack of both seasons has given me chills and I can not stop listening to it to this day, and I can not wait until season 3 which unfortunately was delayed to around July, but AOT has to be my top show.
