no they didn’t but I chose to include it because I am cool

and yeah idk it’s always been a bit of a mystery to me so I still use it as a gel

I think its a pretty reasonable assumption to make, that a product which (at the time) was described as a RAPID coagulant to stop INTENSE bleeding would suffocate you to death if you drank it

it being a coagulant presumably means it makes you blood coagulate to stop bleeding, not that it itself will coagulate inside your body
i imagine drinking it would just be like drinking a foul-taste jelly and you'd probably have some painful shits afterwards

In gameplay it works the same.

I guess if thought about, Medigel probably just acts as a quick seal to various wounds. Probably not a permanent solution, but I could be wrong.
