No one asked you to join, nor do you need to be involved in every warWhy is it America's job to protect Europe? Are we required to join every war started by other nations?
If you think Britain didn't ask the United States to join the war you're out of your mind. The Senate was split at the time due to the past war.No one asked you to join, nor do you need to be involved in every war
You just join because you want to flex and maybe set up spheres of influence so you can get more oil or something
Or because Japan attacked Pearl Harbor and kinda made America understand they gotta take a sideYou just joined because you wanted to flex and maybe set up spheres of influence so you can get more oil or something
When you mention "every war started by other nations", i thought you also meant the conflicts after WW2.Also Nato was established 1949.
"a side"Or because Japan attacked Pearl Harbor and kinda made America understand they gotta take a side
imagine being taken by complete surprise 2 years into a global conflictOr because Japan attacked Pearl Harbor and kinda made America understand they gotta take a side
Hitler's propaganda was on another level. He had people thinking he was doing them a favor by conquering their lands. The issue with any treaty provision is what will you do if the side does violate it. Ideally, you would instantly spring to war. However, will your allies and your own people support this?
Hitler was able to spin the 100000 man army and the limits on equipment into a straitjacket that wouldn't even let them defend themselves against their smallest neighbours. The Rhineland occupation was touted as a hostile takeover of a good chunk of their land. Many other countries, and parts of the population of England and France recognised enough validity in this that the leadership felt it wasn't worth going to war over.
