i'm from a long lignage of deep-sea fishermen, sailors, smugglers and buccaneers on my father's side (in brittany, the part of france with celtic roots)
they eventually started to serve on merchant vessels around late 1800s/early 1900s (my father retired but my cousins still do)
my grandfather was moved to germany to work in factories, he did a bit of sabotage, a good bunch of my ancestors are sleeping with the fishes, nothing quite special tbqh
on my mother's side, i'm from venitian migrants who came to corsica during genoese domination, and later moved to mainland france under napoleon's rule
they went for the border with switzerland and opened a watch factory (stereotype much?), father to son until my grand-mother (lone child) moved to paris to become a teacher
that's about all i can tell
nothing quite spectacular (perhaps not even interesting)
i cut the parts where it gets personnal and recent (my mother's troubled youth, my dad's dubious vision of monogamy, etc.)
