Mad queen is the dumbest route they could have taken it. But did they subvert your expectations? Because that's all that matters. Trash writing. First episode of GoT I actually skipped through. I hope George learns from this shit show and doesn't follow that route if the books ever come out.
Besides that.
Meh. Way to shit on the whole prophecy Maggy made in like season 1 and why Cersei acted like x and y throughout the show.
Jaime didn't really 'kill' her.
All of it seems pointless now.
I guess the leaks posted by @Man Wearing a Helmet were right.
Arya be like:

also holy shit did anyone notice
a pale horse
death rides a pale horse.
Arya is death.
well, at least that was some clever symbolism, I guess? Idfk.
they literally tell you as the viewer last episode that the iron fleet can fucking smack any dragon then this episode the iron fleet + upgraded ballistas get destroyed in 5 minutes by one dragon

its literally last jedi 2.0 how you had so many fucking fan theories going "hmmm there is this whole hidden subplot going on with the golden company that's going to be revealed" NO LOL THEY JUST ALL FUCKING DIE IN 2 SECONDS

Oh yeah and in the book the Golden Company takes The Dorne and the other southern regions and the guy is actually a Blackfyre or Targaryen possibly.
But naaaah.
Throw it out the window like Vampire The Masquerade V5
As I've come to realise, the people actually UPSET about this episode are the softy 'watch because it's popular' fans who want Hollywood dramatic endings. The kind that Thrones is not aimed to please. This was a disaster in the best way possible.
the ballistas were doomed from the start
they take forever to reload, take too long to turn, the technology is far too clunky to be effective against an aware enemy that can move so fast - the only reason they killed the first dragon was bc Daenerys was an idiot and went forward with no intelligence and subsequently got ambushed.
she probably could've fucked the fleet the first encounter, she dodged that one wave of bolts. they were vulnerable. the element of surprise was all they had
but this episode felt very game of thrones to me. they won, the battle was over, the enemy surrendered. kings landing was theirs for the taking, literally all Daenarys had to do was sit her stupid dumbass on the iron throne and she wouldve been queen
but nope, she snaps and slaughters everyone. when victory was right there and in their hands, everyone fucking died the end, like damn holy shit. no happy endings in sight, even if jon comes out on top and becomes king like - what the fuck is he gonna rule over? a pile of ash and rubble
