You'll find that those who enjoy playing video games in their spare time as much as people do here have more than a few similarities when it comes to their social behaviour and mindsets.

All I can say is cherish the free time you have to play games, when you become an adult with a full time job and step off into your career it is a massive difficulty finding the balance between work, life away from the computer and life on the computer.

The idea of if this is a waste of time depends on where you are in life imo. I'm sure in 20 years and see I've spent half a year on one game I might regret it. But that's not the point, the point is the there and now.

Hey, man. Been awhile to that though I would say. Maybe not I met a 70ish year old man the other day who plays runescape. If you're happy you're happy.

Actually met or are you talking about the streamer RSgoldnglory? (The one who was wrongfully accused of being a pedophile).

roleplaying has always helped me in creative writing
and it further helps me with creating characters for my computer animation course

nothing wrong with it

unless you type out detailed sexual acts to other people

As someone who doesn't do Gmod RP, nor intends to I think I have a pretty unbiased opinion and honestly I don't see why RPing would make you a loser, as @seal mentioned when you RP you constantly interact with people and if anything it helps you develop social skills rather than hinder them.

What can be bad though is the amount of time you spend on the game and how you take things that happen in game. In my final year of school (last year) I can say that I definitely dedicated way too much of my time to the server, I spent most of my free time on playing, administrating and running a faction. If you just play for the fun of it and don't sacrifice anything than its all good but if you other aspects of your life suffer or you get stressed out because you are afraid for the life of you character or anything like that (And lets not bullshit, most of us have been there at one point) you should either chill out or stop playing.

Don't really like to use the term loser, it has its place but these days its just a word edgelords throw around to make themselves feel good.

I get bullied for trying to study. and i am already blamed for taking attention for asking to stop where were the old teachers gone to!?

Ignore the ass hats at school who don't know what they want to do with their lives and bumfuck their way through, have a legitimate goal and be proud of it

Are you a loser because you 'waste' time on this? If you enjoy this 'waste' of time, perhaps you are not a loser in your own eyes.

In the end, you are given experiences that will be with you along your journey, regardless of how wasteful they may have been.

So no, we're not losers because what is there to lose? Life and time? Time goes on regardless of whether you live or die - we already know this.

If you want to put time into this, no, you're not a loser. You're doing what you enjoy regardless of others thoughts. Perhaps that's what pushes you to play and roleplay on this. And who cares about what 'bullies' and other people think - at school especially - because in 10 years time you won't know those people and you probably won't be playing on here anymore, as your life has progressed a further step.

So enjoy it while you can, 'losers.'

I would say no
Thanks to RP I've met loads of people who I wouldn't have met if it wasn't for RP
I've found music, films and all kind of other shit thanks to other people in this community
Do I have many outside friends? No, because I'm a antisocial dickhead.
Even if we were "losers" are non-losers any better?

Roleplay is one of those things that is...not in the "mainstream" of what one would think of when thinking about video games. Thus I suppose you could conclude that people would think you are weird, but that is because they don't understand it. I openly admit, when it comes up in a conversation, that I do roleplay (or well, have at least).

But in all reality, do what you like to do. It's your choice what to do with your time. People may look at you weirdly, and there is no stopping that. But your having fun so why change?

Nha. This is what we do as entertainment and why should someone be able to take that from us when we have spent so much time meeting great new people, discovering new interests and just having fun on our spare time.

Everyone has their own appeal of what they think is fun and/or entertaining and while most think playing shooter games with the *bamm* *baam* and weapons is the best there is, we like to unwinde and spend time socialising on a virtual platform instead. Nothing wrong with that.

Same people who call us losers would probably think that people who roleplay in "flight simulator" are also losers but take a look at this guy who is hella funny and has made a successful Youtube out of it.

@key (sorry to call you out pal) is someone that springs to mind, when he first said he was home schooled or whatever it was long ass time ago, he was able to create a much bigger social interaction web because of video games and the ability to connect to anyone from his house, however once more, that doesn't remove the need for in person interaction.
even if you take classes online you just need to get out and make friends through other means. not going to a regular school isn't really that big of a social block honestly.

i think it's something that helped me a lot in terms of managing, organizing, planning, writing and creating

if it weren't for the drama, and the amount i got into it years ago, i wouldnt have even a shadow of regret
but i feel that everytime i say "man im sure glad i signed up for this" i immediately temper that with regret over just how many hours i have in it

No. I've met some of my closest online friends roleplaying, some of which are better than my real friends. I genuinely enjoy doing it, it distracts me from the world and my life. I'm relatively young too, so honestly I'm hardly wasting my life. Yeah now and then I look at myself and think "the fuck am I doing with my life" but if I enjoy it then why stop. Hardly doing me any harm. I don't have many things to get in the way right now.

You can roleplay and have a life too y'know?

I mean, wasting your time away behind a screen is in my personal opinion frowned upon, but by now, I don't think anyone here does that
